Music's Positive Impact

Music has always had a profound impact on people throughout time. Music brings people together and can make a lonely person feel like they are not completely alone. I suppose music can have downsides for some which is super sad but I choose to focus on the positives.
When I think about it, it's crazy how much the way we access music has changed over the years. To think that at one time in history people only knew record players and before that live music with instruments or A cappella was the way to enjoy music. In my life time I have seen the evolving of access to music go from cassette tapes in a stereo or little walkman that could be carried around. To CD players in stereos or walkmans and other radios. I remember making CD's from music on the computer with friends. The funny part there is many of the CD's had a lot of the same songs on them only in a different order. Or purchasing an album that you could actually hold and appreciate the cover art, well not me per say but… Then iPods flew off the shelves and MP3 players so tiny you could slip it into your pocket with loads of songs. Now we can just press play on our phones bringing our own personal playlists to life. And we can stream music. And there's the actual car radio with morning shows and DJ's that talk you through the day with music selections.
Music is truly art that inspires and lifts spirits. Everyone has different genres they prefer which shows how vast the art of music is in general. Music has changed so much over time which is awesome.
Music can set a mood, it's no wonder many stores have music in the background when you are shopping. Like happy upbeat music in clothing and shoe stores drawing customers to the racks and shelves. Certain songs can bring a memory to the surface or remind us of a certain smell. A song can calm a non-visible storm in a person's mind and heart that they are trying to deal with. There are dance tunes which are fun, songs that give you a motivation boost to power through a workout and gentle melodies which are just nice to hear.
Music can be an escape for a few minutes, no sad news stories, no politics, no social media banter that can get you down if you let it. Just music. Movies and TV shows are accompanied with music sound tracks that fit the style and mood of its content. I don't listen to a ton of it but music without words is nice sometimes. And then the very words of a song can be just what you needed to hear. In a personal playlist that I have certain songs are nice go to's. F**kin' Perfect by Pink, Pray by Sam Smith, Fight Song by Rachel Platten, This Is War by Thirty Seconds To Mars, Sometimes by H.E.R., Only The Young by Taylor Swift. And I could go on and on. There's just so much to appreciate about music. Gotta have some bass sometimes too. I'm so happy that music exists and is right at our finger tips.
